On behalf of Benha University; Prof. Gamal El Saeed, the University President congratulated Prof. Randa Mustafa, the University Vice-president for Community Service and Environment Development Affairs for the confidence of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi to appoint her as a Senator.
During his presidency of the University's Council of Deans, El Saeed expressed his happiness with this choice, which confirms the political leadership's confidence in the university's professors and scientific expertise.
BU among 1500 Best World Universities according to U. S. News Ranking 2021
Prof. Dr. Gamal El Saeed, Benha University President announced that the University has joined the list of 1500 best world universities for the second consecutive year according to U. S. News Ranking 2021 among 19 Egypt's public and private universities that have been ranked in this edition. He added that the University has been ranked among more than 30 thousand universities spread around the world, indicating that the University's rank this year has come 1182 globally, 41 in Africa, and 13 in Egypt.
Prof. Dr. Nasser El Gizawy, the University Vice-president for Postgraduate Studies and Researches' Affairs said that U. S. News Ranking based on 13 indicators that measure the research performance of the academic and research institutions and their global and regional reputation referring that 1678 universities from 80 countries have been ranked this year out of 30 thousand universities spread around the world.
In the same context, El Gizawy said that the University has been ranked 299 globally in the International Collaboration Index of Scientific Publishing between University teaching staff and the world universities, in addition of the rank 1064 in the International Reputation Index of Scientific Research, and 1034 in the Index of Books Published in the International Publishing Houses.
It is worth mentioning that this Ranking does not need to provide data from universities, but depends entirely on the American Clarifit databases to measure scientific research indicators for universities around the world.
BU Students success in Manufacturing a Satellite
In the frame of cooperation protocol between Benha University and the Egyptian Space Agency "ESA", the students of the faculty of engineering at Benha have succeeded in implementing and manufacturing a satellite as part of the graduation projects under the auspices of Dr. Gamal El Saeed, the University President and Dr. Mohamed Elkoosy, the CEO of the ESA.
In this regard, Dr. Nasser El Gizawy, the University Vice-president for Post Graduate Studies and Researches' Affairs said that the educational satellite makes students interact with satellite technology from a practical point of view, as they became participants in implementing and manufacturing the satellite, confirming that the University was keen to provide full support as well as moral and financial encouragement to students during the study time, especially in the duration of Corona pandemic and distance education.
BU: Providing All Capabilities toward Digital Transformation
Prof. Gamal El Saeed, Benha University President received Eng. Nasser El Amir, the Director of Digital Transformation Unit at the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research in the presence of Prof. Nasser El Gizawy, the University Vice-president for Post Graduate Studies and Researches' Affairs; Prof. Tamer Samir, the University Vice-president for Education and Students` Affairs; Prof. Islam Elsharawy, the University Chief Information Officer; Prof. Shady Elmashad, the University Vice-chief Information Officer; and Prof. Ahmed Bayoumi, the Director of the University Management Information System.
During the meeting, El Saeed said that the University pays great attention to the digital transformation file, as It has provided all its capabilities, whether financial or human resources to start implementing the digital transformation because of its significant effect on the educational process at the University and in line with the Ministry's policy towards digital transformation.
Research Cooperation between BU and the University of Bristol
Prof. Dr. Nasser El Gizawy, Benha University Vice-president for Post Graduate Studies and Researches' Affairs said that a group of scientists from the University of Bristol and Benha University used salt water to cool the photovoltaic units with the aim of developing a system for cooling solar cells by using materials saturated with sea water adding that this development came after a series of scientific papers published by same research team using pure water.
It is worth mentioning that the two Universities signed last July a memorandum of understanding within the framework of joint cooperation between them in the academic and research fields.
BU runs the Electronic Exams Center
The Electronic Exams Center, Benha University has conducted the first experimental electronic test for the students at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine.
In this regard, Dr. Mohamed Abdel Fattah, the Center Director said that all necessary preparations and equipment have been completed, including the connection of the communications network and the Internet.
It is worth mentioning that the Electronic Exams Center has 700 computers on 12 computer labs to conduct electronic exams for 700 students in same time and all laboratories are equipped with CCTV.
Scientific Research at BU on "Hybrid Electric Power"
Prof. Dr. Nasser El Gizawy, Benha University Vice-president for Post Graduate Studies and Researches' Affairs pursued at the Faculty of Engineering in Benha one of the research projects funding by the University and aiming to produce renewable energy.
El Gizawy said that research project aims to produce hybrid electric power units from solar and wind energies that can be used in tourist villages on the northern coast or on the Red Sea coast.
BU hosts a Meeting for EOA throughout Zoom Application
Prof. Dr. Nasser El Gizawy, Benha University Vice-president for Post Graduate Studies and Researches ' Affairs said that the Department of Orthopedic at the Faculty of Medicine has organized the monthly medical meeting of the Egyptian Orthopedic Association "EOA" throughout Zoom application which discussed 20 different cases of orthopedic diseases and surgery. It is worth mentioning that the meeting has been hold under the patron of Prof. Dr. Gamal El Saeed, the University President and attended by Prof. Dr. Gamal Eladawy, the Former Minister of Health and the Emeritus Professor at the Faculty of Medicine; Prof. Dr. Gamal Hosni, the Head of EOA; and Prof. Dr. Mustafa Elkady, the Dean of the Faculty.
BU maintains Its World Ranking in Times 2021
Prof. Dr. Gamal El Saeed, Benha University President said that the Times Higher Education World University Rankings has announced for the new ranking of 2021 indicating that the University has occupied the rank 801 – 1000 among 527 universities in the world and 21 universities in Egypt at 4th group. Prof. Dr. Nasser El Gizawy, the University Vice-president for Post Graduate Studies and Researches ' Affairs said that according to that ranking, the University has maintained its world place occupied in 2020 with improvement in its performance at the citation and teaching, as well as the international outlook comparing with the previous year.
New Research at BU on "Tannins Effect on Inhibiting COVID‐19"
Prof. Dr. Nasser El Gizawy, Benha University Vice-president for Post Graduate Studies and Researches' Affairs said that a research team from Benha University "BU" and other researchers from China, India, and Sudan published in the Journal of Food Biochemistry a study about Tannins inhibit SARS‐CoV‐2 through binding with catalytic dyad residues of 3CLpro: An in silico approach with 19 structural different hydrolysable tannins.
Dr. Ibrahim Khalifa, the lecturer at the food industry department, faculty of agriculture and the head of BU research team said that the corona epidemic resulting from infection with novel coronavirus "covid19", has raised the concerns of the World Health Organization as well as all over the world.
